Pros and Cons of Portable Saunas

Did you know that you can enjoy your own personal sauna these days no matter where you live. Stem and infrared portable saunas are both available in a variety of models that make it easy to enjoy the relaxation of a sauna even if you have limited space or a small budget. Portable saunas are both lightweight and affordable.

Below are the pros and cons of personal saunas for personal use.

The Pros

As I said, a portable sauna is lightweight meaning most anyone can move it when necessary. Today's portable saunas typically weigh anywhere from 15 to 65 pounds and are compact as well.

Portable saunas are very quick to heat up which means they also save you time since you don't need to wait. With a traditional sauna it could take up to 30 minutes to come all the way to temperature, but a portable sauna takes just a short 5 minutes to heat up and you're ready to go.

Portable saunas are tops in sauna convenience. In addition to being lightweight and compact they are also easy to set up. You can plug them right into your normal electrical outlets and away you go.

There's no need to worry about breathing hot air like in a normal sauna. I know that some people don't like this, but in a portable sauna you typically sit or lie with your head outside the sauna. If you do want to cover your head most models have an optional head cover you can use to do this.

They are easy to store. Because they are so small and compact they don't take up much space and you can store your portable sauna in a closet or unused corner of your room.

The Cons

Personal portable saunas have just two downsides that I can think of.

Those who are claustrophobic might not like the confined spaces of a portable sauna.

Portable saunas don't offer the same intense heat that you would get from a traditional sauna and some people don't like this. If you're one of these people that enjoys that intense heat make sure you try out a portable sauna first because you might not be happy with the lack of intensity.

So if you're looking for an easy and affordable way to get the health and relaxation benefits of a sauna you need to check out the personal portable saunas available. They may not be quite the same as a traditional sauna, but they sure are close and you can't beat them for convenience and price.

Gym Etiquette - What to wear in sauna?

So i have recently joined a gym for the first time and noticed a sauna in the changeroom. I want to hop in but don't know what is proper attire.

Its situated in the mens change room so there won't be women in it, and is right beside the shower.

I don't know anyone else at the gym yet and wonder whether I am supposed to wear shorts, nothing at all, or hop in wrapped in a towel.

What to do?

Yes naked is acceptable, or just keep your towel wrapped around you. If you wear your bathing suit, chlorine from the pool leaches into the air and becomes toxic for people who are in the sauna for awhile so I'd advise against it.

I'm guessing you're asking this from the States? Location matters because the culture will vary. In Europe everyone is always naked, no questions asked, even in a mixed sauna but I can't speak for anywhere else. Try it with a towel and see what other people are doing (without staring of course!).
